Your Comfort Is Everything!

Burbank showroom and Latexpedic factory

Huntington Beach, California, from Huntington Harbour and Bolsa Chica to the pier and the Santa Ana River. Electropedic delivers and sets up beds here from Burbank.

Hospital Beds for Huntington Beach

Surf City lives outdoors, on the sand, the bike path and the pier. When surgery, illness or simply the years bring that life indoors for a while, the bed matters more than almost anything else in the house.

Electropedic's hi-low beds rise, lower and reposition at a touch, and our Latexpedic latex mattresses, handmade in our Burbank factory, hold their shape for decades. We deliver and set up both, from Huntington Harbour to the mobile-home communities along Beach Boulevard.

Six Hi-Low Beds, Six Huntington Beach Stories

Each bed's name and key facts stay beside you while you read its story: the problem, why it gets harder, and how the bed solves it.

When the bathroom is too far at night, and the commode is right beside the bed.

The problemThe walk to the bathroom has become too risky at night, so the nurse suggested a bedside commode. Now every trip means getting from a low bed onto a seat that is higher, in the dark, half awake.

Why it gets harderMismatched heights turn a short shuffle into a wobbly drop and climb. Two or three times a night, every night, the odds of a fall add up.

The solution

Set the Tuffcare to exactly the commode's seat height with one button on the pendant, so the transfer is a level pivot instead of a climb. Add an optional half rail on that side for a steady grip, and lock all eight casters so nothing shifts. The two-piece split frame also makes it easier to bring through narrow hallways.

When a calf cramp wakes you and you have to stand, now.

The problemNight-time leg cramps strike out of nowhere. The quickest relief is to stand and press your heel to the floor, but from a low, soft bed, getting up fast is the hard part.

Why it gets harderYou lurch up in pain and in the dark, on a leg that is locked tight, the perfect recipe for a stumble.

The solution

Keep the Supernal 3 set at the height where your feet rest flat on the floor while you sit on the edge, so standing takes one smooth push. Raise the head to bring you up to sitting with no strain, and add the optional support rail for a hand to hold. When you want a lower bed, it drops to about 10.5 inches at the frame. Ask your doctor about frequent cramps.

When your husband comes home with a tracheostomy.

The problemAfter a long illness, he is home with a trach, and the respiratory team has shown you the positions that help him breathe and keep his airway clear. On the bed you have now, none of them hold.

Why it gets harderYou are constantly re-propping and re-checking, day and night, and the worry never lets you rest.

The solution

The Supernal 5 reaches and holds positions at the touch of a button: head elevation, reverse Trendelenburg to tilt the whole bed head-up, Trendelenburg, zero gravity and hi-low height to bring him to a comfortable working level for care. Its upholstered frame keeps the bedroom feeling like home. Use every position exactly as his care team directs.

When the CPAP hose and the pillow pile are fighting each other.

The problemYou wear a CPAP mask, and you sleep better with your head a little higher. Stacked pillows shift, the mask leaks, and the hose tugs every time you move.

Why it gets harderYour partner, who likes to sleep flat, is woken by every leak alarm and every rearrangement, and neither of you gets the rest you need.

The solution

On a split Flexabed Hi-Low SL, raise the head of your side to the angle that keeps your mask sealed and the hose relaxed, while your partner's side stays flat. Save it on the remote so it is the same every night. The vertical lift makes standing easier, and the bed is hand-built to order in Georgia. Ask your sleep doctor what angle suits you.

When Mom's sleep starts to change along with her memory.

The problemSince her memory began to slip, your mother's nights have changed. Some nights she is up and wandering at 3 a.m.; other days she sleeps until noon. Nobody can say what is normal anymore.

Why it gets harderWithout a clear picture, it is hard to tell her doctor what is happening, and every night out of bed in the dark is a fall waiting to happen.

The solution

The Dawn House quietly records her sleep, movement, heart rate and breathing every night, with nothing to wear or remember, and its app reveals patterns you can share with her doctor. Motion-activated underbed lighting comes on the moment her feet touch the floor, and hi-low height makes each step out steadier. Familiar upholstery keeps the bed feeling like hers.

When the beach house guest room has to work for every generation.

The problemYour home near the beach is where the whole family gathers. The guest room hosts your grandchildren one week and your eighty-year-old in-laws the next, and the in-laws struggle with its low, soft bed.

Why it gets harderThey start making excuses not to stay over, or they come and sleep badly, and the visits you treasure grow shorter and fewer.

The solution

The Ascend looks and works like a beautiful adjustable bed, so the grandkids will love the head and foot controls and zero gravity. For older guests, about 7 inches of hi-low lift raises the bed to an easy sitting height, the optional support rail steadies the first step, and underbed lighting shows the way at night. Everyone sleeps well, and everyone wants to come back.

Hospital Beds for Mobile and Manufactured Homes

Huntington Beach is home to many mobile-home and manufactured-home communities, much loved by retirees. These homes can take a hospital bed, with a little planning.

Narrow doors, compact rooms, easy fixes

Doorways, hallways and bedrooms in mobile homes are often smaller than in site-built houses, and hallway turns can be tight. Beds that come apart for delivery, like the Tuffcare's two-piece split frame, and Twin or Twin XL sizes are usually the easiest fit.

Measure before you call, then phone 800-233-7382. We will recommend a bed and size that will make it through the door and fit comfortably in the room.

  1. Every doorway on the way inFront door, hallway doors and the bedroom door, at their narrowest point.
  2. The tightest hallway turnCorners are often the real limit, not straight hallways.
  3. The bedroom itselfLength, width and where the closet and windows sit.
  4. The outlet near the bedA grounded outlet within reach of the head of the bed.
  5. Space beside the bedRoom on one side for a walker, commode or caregiver.

Latexpedic Natural Latex Mattresses

Handmade one at a time in our Burbank factory and sold factory direct. Dense, resilient natural latex that keeps its shape for decades.

Natural latex from top to bottom, with no soft foam to break down.

When the mattress gives up before you do

Bigger, broader people are hard on mattresses. Soft foams and pillow tops develop deep body impressions within a year or two, the sleeper sinks into a hollow, the back aches, and getting out of the dip becomes a struggle. Warranties often exclude impressions until they are very deep.

Natural latex is dense and springs back night after night, so it resists those hollows far better than soft foams. Choose Extra Firm or Ultra Firm for more lift, and because a Latexpedic is fully reversible, you can turn it to share the wear. It is backed by a 20-year limited warranty.

Serving Huntington Beach

What we have learned delivering across Surf City, and the questions families here ask first.

From the Harbour to the river

Huntington Beach runs from the waterfront homes of Huntington Harbour and the bluffs above Bolsa Chica, past downtown and the pier, to the neighborhoods near Central Park and the Santa Ana River. Two-story houses, condos with elevators and single-level mobile homes all call for different delivery plans, so tell us about your home when you call.

Home from a nearby hospital

Many Huntington Beach families call us after a stay at Huntington Beach Hospital or MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center in neighboring Fountain Valley. As soon as you know the discharge date, call us so the bed can be delivered and set up before your family member comes home.

Plan by phone first

Our Burbank showroom is about 45 miles away. Most Huntington Beach customers start with a call, narrow the choices to two or three beds, and then decide whether a showroom visit is worth the drive.
