Hospital Beds for Pomona Homes

From Lincoln Park to Phillips Ranch

In the Pomona Valley, families take care of their own, through long summers, long recoveries and long careers spent on their feet. When a loved one needs more support at night, the bed should work as hard as the family does.

Electropedic's six hi-low beds rise, lower and reposition at a touch, and our Latexpedic latex mattresses, handmade in our Burbank factory, are a world away from the thin vinyl pads that come with many hospital beds. We deliver and set up both in your Pomona home.

Pomona, California, in the Pomona Valley of eastern Los Angeles County. Electropedic delivers and sets up beds here from our Burbank showroom.

Six Hi-Low Beds, Read Across

Each row reads left to right: the bed, a problem a Pomona family described, what happens if nothing changes, and how the bed answers it.

The problem

When three siblings take turns caring for Dad.

You have Monday and Tuesday, your brother takes the weekend, your sister flies in once a month. Each of you does things a little differently, and Dad never quite knows what to expect.

If nothing changes

On a bed with no controls, everyone improvises their own way to lift, turn and sit him up. Somebody eventually strains a back, and Dad gets bumped and jostled by every new method.

The answer

Give the whole family one simple tool. The Tuffcare's single five-function pendant controls height, head, foot, Trendelenburg and reverse, so every sibling raises, positions and lowers Dad the same safe way. Optional half rails, eight locking casters and a backup battery good for up to 7 minutes complete it.

  • T7042: 42 x 80 in.

The problem

When your diabetes routine starts on the edge of the bed.

Every morning you check your feet, test your blood sugar and put on special socks, all sitting on the edge of a bed so tall your feet dangle and you cannot lean forward safely.

If nothing changes

You skip the foot check on the hard mornings, and with diabetes, a small sore that goes unnoticed can become a serious problem.

The answer

Lower the Supernal 3 so you sit with both feet flat on the floor, steady enough to lean forward and see your feet clearly. Raise the head behind you for support while you test and dress. Then lift the bed to make standing easy. It lowers to about 10.5 inches at the frame, and an optional support rail moves with the bed.

The problem

When fluid in the abdomen makes lying flat impossible.

With liver disease, your husband sometimes carries fluid in his abdomen. Lying flat presses it up against his lungs, and he cannot catch his breath until he sits up.

If nothing changes

He spends nights propped in a recliner, never fully resting, and his swollen body aches from the cramped position.

The answer

Reverse Trendelenburg tilts the entire Supernal 5 head-up on a smooth, even incline, and head articulation adds a supported recline, so he can lie back and still breathe comfortably. Foot elevation, zero gravity and hi-low height add comfort and make transfers easier. Use positions only as his care team directs.

The problem

When two sisters share a room again after sixty years.

Since both were widowed, your mother and her older sister live together and share a bedroom, just like when they were girls. One needs her head raised to breathe; the other needs her feet up for swelling.

If nothing changes

Two mismatched twin beds crowd the room, neither one adjusts, and both sisters sleep badly.

The answer

A split Flexabed Hi-Low SL gives each sister her own mattress and her own independent head and foot controls, side by side in one handsome frame. The vertical lift raises the whole bed for easy standing in the morning and lowers it to about 16.5 inches with a mattress at night. Hand-built to order in Georgia.

Dawn House Living

The Dawn House Bed

The problem

When a valley heat wave worries you about Mom's nights.

Pomona summers can stay hot well after dark. Your mother lives alone, insists she is fine, and never wants to bother anyone during a heat wave.

If nothing changes

You call every evening, lie awake wondering how her night is going, and have no way to tell whether the heat is taking a toll.

The answer

The Dawn House records her heart rate, breathing and sleep every night through sensors in its base, with nothing to wear, and its app can share reports with family she chooses, so you can see when her nights are restless. Voice control, motion-activated underbed lighting and hi-low height make her nights safer. Keep up good heat precautions, too.

Ascend High-Low Adjustable Bed with Tilt

The problem

When you are waiting on hernia surgery.

Your hernia repair is scheduled for next month. Until then, your doctor wants you to avoid straining, but sitting up from a flat, low bed means crunching your stomach muscles every single morning.

If nothing changes

Each morning brings the very strain you are supposed to avoid, along with the worry that you are making it worse before the operation.

The answer

Let the Ascend sit you up. One touch raises the head, so your stomach muscles stay relaxed, and about 7 inches of hi-low lift brings your feet to the floor without pushing. Use the optional support rail to stand. After surgery, the same bed helps you recover, with zero gravity and three presets. Follow your surgeon's instructions.

Sleeping Through a Pomona Valley Summer

Inland summers are hot, and nights do not always cool off. For anyone spending long hours in bed, heat is more than an inconvenience.

A cooler, safer bed in the heat

Thin vinyl hospital pads and dense memory foam trap body heat, and people who cannot easily change position feel it most. A few choices make a real difference during the hottest months.

Questions about keeping a loved one comfortable? Call 800-233-7382, and talk with their doctor about heat precautions, too.

  • Choose a breathable mattressNatural latex, cotton and wool breathe far better than vinyl or dense foam.
  • Raise the head slightlySome people find a gentle incline more comfortable on warm, stuffy nights.
  • Plan for outagesThe Tuffcare's backup battery allows a few minutes of operation if the power fails.
  • Keep an eye on nightsSleep tracking on the Dawn House shows when nights become restless.

Latexpedic Natural Latex Mattresses

Handmade one at a time in our Burbank factory and sold factory direct, sized and shaped to work with hi-low beds.

When the hospital bed comes with a thin vinyl pad

Many rented and basic hospital beds come with a few inches of foam inside a slick vinyl cover. It wipes clean, but it sleeps hot, sticky and hard, and the person in the bed slides on it every time the head is raised.

A Latexpedic is made to bend with a hi-low bed, in profiles from 7 to 12 inches. Natural latex cushions and supports, cotton and wool breathe, and the quilted surface does not slide like vinyl. Tell us the bed's make and mattress size, and we will confirm the fit.

Serving Pomona

What we have learned delivering across Pomona, and the questions families here ask first.

Historic streets and hillside homes

Pomona ranges from the older homes of the Lincoln Park neighborhood and streets near the downtown Arts Colony to newer hillside homes in Phillips Ranch and neighborhoods near Cal Poly Pomona and the Fairplex. Tell us about steps, doorways and outlets when you call, and we will plan the delivery to fit.

Home from Pomona Valley Hospital or Casa Colina

Many families call us after a stay at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center or a rehabilitation stay at Casa Colina. As soon as you know the discharge date, call us so the bed can be delivered and set up before your family member comes home.

Plan by phone, visit if you like

Our Burbank showroom is about 40 miles away. Many Pomona families narrow the choice by phone first, then visit to try the final two or three beds in person.
